The Florida Chapter of the Congress for the New Urbanism is excited to announce the 2014 CNU Florida Summit will be February 6 & 7 at New College of Florida, Sarasota. Our full program will be posted here soon.

Keynote: CNU Florida is excited to announce Victor Dover will be a keynote speaker at the 2014 Florida Summit.

Complete Streets are all the rage; however, only beautiful streets where people want to be are truly “complete.” On the heels of the release of his new book with John Massengale, Street Design: The Secret to Great Cities and Towns, Victor Dover will share his insights on how good street design can be revolutionary, unlock value, improve life and reknit society.

The Rules have Changed: Competing in a 21th Century Economy Cities have choices. Those choices will determine the success of a community and their place in the world. But the rules have changed from a time when cities needed to just provide the basic municipal services well. The forces of globalization, climate change, infrastructure needs, demographics and technology are redefining the assumptions of how to build communities.

 

Lightning Round: The reprise of last year’s popular CNU Florida Lightning Round!

The Lightning Round gives our members and guests the opportunity to share ideas in a rapid-fire format. This exciting event showcases the best urbanist offerings from participants across the state in an entertaining and informative experience. Join us under the stars to hear what your fellow Floridians are thinking and share your thoughts.

Lightning Round Instructions

CNU Florida is currently accepting submissions for lightning round presentations.

  • All presentations will be in a short, pre-timed format, not to exceed 6¾ minutes.
  • Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.
  • Submissions received by January 7th will be notified no later than January 16th.
